CPP31318
Certificate III in Security operations
The CPP31318 Certificate III in Security Operations reflects the role of individuals who work as security officers, responsible for maintaining the safety and security of people, premises and property. They carry out a range of operational tasks, including patrolling, crowd control, monitoring behaviour, screening entry and responding to incidents. Security officers at this level work independently or lead small teams under limited supervision, using discretion and judgement within known and unpredictable environments.

Overview
This program is tailored for individuals currently working in the security industry who already hold a valid Security Officer licence issued under state or territory legislation. It is not an entry-level course and does not provide the units required to obtain a new licence or add endorsements. Students must hold an existing security licence before starting the program.
The qualification supports the development of practical, industry-relevant skills and is nationally recognised upon completion. It suits those working in a range of settings, including corporate security, events, retail, transport hubs, and public facilities. Training combines hands-on learning, workplace-based activities, and structured instruction to build capability in real-world environments.
Learning content
Throughout this course, learners gain the knowledge and hands-on skills to confidently provide personal care, including assistance with showering, dressing, and mobility. The program focuses on supporting individuals to maintain independence, participate in their communities, and make informed choices—upholding the principles of dignity and respect. Students also learn how to provide support for people living with dementia, intellectual or physical disabilities, and other complex care needs.
In addition, learners develop strong communication skills to interact effectively with clients, families, and care teams. They explore the legal, ethical, and organisational frameworks that guide care work, and learn to apply essential safety and infection control procedures in everyday practice. These foundations ensure learners are well-prepared for meaningful roles in the care and support sector.
