SIT20322
Certificate II in Hospitality
The SIT20322 Certificate II in Hospitality is designed for individuals working in entry-level hospitality roles across cafes, restaurants, clubs, and other venues. Learners develop basic operational and service skills to perform routine tasks under supervision, gaining the confidence and competence to work effectively in customer-facing environments.

Overview
This qualification is ideal for students undertaking workplace-based training and provides a strong starting point for those beginning their career in the hospitality industry. Through a combination of structured instruction and hands-on experience, learners will develop core skills in customer service, food and beverage handling, hygiene and safety, and effective teamwork. All training and assessment outcomes are aligned to national industry standards.
The program is tailored for new or early career entrants who are currently working in entry-level hospitality roles and seeking to build their capability across a range of operational duties. Participants may include school-leavers, career starters, or individuals transitioning into hospitality from other industries. For many students, this will be their first formal qualification while gaining experience in cafés, restaurants, pubs, clubs, hotels, motels, or resorts.
As students progress, they’ll move from performing basic job tasks to taking on more independent responsibilities in the workplace. The program lays a solid foundation for further development into specialist roles such as barista or front-of-house worker, or provides a clear pathway to higher-level qualifications, including the Certificate III and IV in Hospitality.
Learning content
Learners will develop foundational hospitality service and operational skills, with a strong focus on safe and hygienic practices relevant to their specific work roles. The course also builds effective communication skills for interacting with both customers and team members, while reinforcing the principles of quality service delivery in real time hospitality settings. As students gain experience, they’ll build confidence and consistency in performing routine workplace tasks, helping them become reliable and capable members of the hospitality team.
