Learning content
In this course, students will learn to use a range of business software and technology to efficiently complete workplace tasks. Strong emphasis is placed on effective communication with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders, as well as delivering high-quality customer service and professionally managing customer complaints. Learners will develop skills in organising personal work priorities through effective time management and workplace planning techniques.
Participants will gain experience in producing a variety of essential business documents, including reports, spreadsheets, and professional correspondence. The course also covers the fundamentals of managing workplace information, records, and confidential data securely. Workplace health and safety (WHS) policies and procedures are addressed to ensure learners understand how to maintain a safe and compliant working environment.
The course encourages students to contribute to sustainable work practices and environmental management initiatives within the workplace. Learners will also explore the importance of workplace diversity, equity, and ethical conduct. Finally, students will develop their ability to participate as effective team members, contributing to shared goals and supporting continuous improvement activities.

Eligibility
- Students should be old enough to work in their chosen role and able to safely take part in tasks related to business administration.
- Students need to be working—or have a clear pathway into work—in a role that fits within the business services space. This could be in areas like admin, customer service, retail support, government, education, healthcare admin, or other office-based settings.
- Students will need regular access to a real business or admin work environment where they can build their skills and complete assessments. This includes working with customers or clients, using business systems and office equipment, and taking on tasks that link to the course outcomes.
